Samsung Smartthings Find Adds Item Classification Function

Samsung Electronics announced a new feature for SmartThings Find. The update adds item classification to help users organize tracked devices better. The feature sorts items into categories like phones, tablets, earphones, and tags. Users can now group similar devices together for easier management.

SmartThings Find helps locate lost devices using crowdsourced location data. The service works with Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, and SmartTags. The item classification tool automatically labels devices based on type. Users can also manually adjust categories if needed. This aims to reduce clutter in the tracking interface.

The update simplifies finding specific items in a list. Users no longer need to scroll through all devices to locate one. Grouping by type allows quicker access. Samsung says the change improves efficiency for people managing multiple gadgets.

The feature supports third-party tracking tags compatible with SmartThings Find. Samsung’s network includes millions of Galaxy devices worldwide. These devices anonymously help locate missing items by sharing location data. Samsung emphasizes privacy. Location data remains encrypted and is not stored on servers.

A Samsung spokesperson explained the update. “Users wanted a cleaner way to handle tracked items. Item classification makes SmartThings Find more intuitive. People can focus on what matters without distractions.”

The update is available now for all SmartThings Find users. It works on devices running Android 9 or later with a Samsung account. No additional setup is required. The feature activates automatically after installing the latest app version.

Samsung SmartThings Find launched in 2020. It expanded to support non-Samsung devices in 2022. The service now includes over 300 million Galaxy devices globally. Samsung plans more updates this year to improve device tracking and user control.

Privacy remains a priority. Samsung uses blockchain technology to secure location data. Only the item owner can view precise location details. The company confirms no personal data is shared during the tracking process.
