How to Run Samsung Galaxy S III’s TouchWiz Launcher on Any Android 4.0.X OS Device?

There are many launchers available in Android OS that enhances the user experience by tweaking the user-interface. You will find different kinds of launchers, but the best one I personally like is the Samsung Galaxy S III’s TouchWiz Launcher, due to its flexibility and feature richness. It is also good in terms of performance and speed.

Today I encountered with an XDA post which is posted by a 13 year old boy. He has provided the steps and the resources through which you can run TouchWiz Launcher on any Android smartphone that has 4.0.X (that means all ICS and above versions are supported by this tweak).

This TouchWiz Launcher has reportedly been tested and found 100% working on:

• LG Nitro HD
• Samsung Captivate
• Motorola Droid
• Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
• HTC Sensation
• Xperia Pro
• Motorola Defy
• Motorola Milestone
• Galaxy Note
• Samsung Galaxy S Plus
• LG-P990
• HTC Desire
• HTC Rezound
• HTC One S (not AOPK)

How to install the TouchWiz Launcher on other Android OS 4.0.X devices?

The installation method is pretty simple and fast. It even doesn’t require great amount of technical knowledge to execute the porting process. You can either download the APK file from the forum link or install it like any other file. Simply enable the “Unknown Sources” from Settings > Security before you install the file directly into your smartphone. However upon following the latter method, the ability to use the widgets will be no more. In order to use the widgets, you need to download the APK, and manually store it under the “/system/app” via a root explorer for e.g.: File Expert, change /system permissions to rw –r –r and after that process, install the file. You should also clear the system data from Settings > Applications for the launcher, as directed by the developer.

Note: It is currently available in Beta stage; hence you will have to make compromises with the usual bugs and crashes.
