All the gaming freaks, here’s the real deal. The world’s biggest video games event is here again, Yes, we are talking about Gamescom. The largest trade fair of games is held annually in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Organized by Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software, it welcomes manufactures, developers, publishers and consumers to gather and present their upcoming games and other hardware. This year, running from August 15-19, the major shares of press conferences belong to Electronic Arts, Sony, Capcom and Ubisoft. Microsoft and Nintendo give the fair a miss this year though.
Here’s the outline of the events:
Electronic Arts will be beginning first on August 15 around 4pm local time with the limelight on FIFA 13, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Crysis 3 and SimCity. Then there will be Sonys’ action next around 7pm. The company will provide its general preview of the products late this year and next year. Some smart valued Subscription schemes and Playstation Vita portable system will be put on line too. The games included are God of War: Ascension, The Unfinished Swap, Zen Pinball 2, Sound Shapes, LittleBigPlanet Vita, The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls.
Capcom with its conference scheduled early next day isn’t disclosing much about its chart but only asked its consumers to keep anticipating “something big”. Resident Evil, Devil May cry, Lost Planet 3 etc are expected.
Ubisoft will be seen updating on the action games around 3pm same day – Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 3, also party titles Just Dance 4 and Hip Hop Dance Experience, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013. The company is being assertive about the concept of free games too whether via Facebook or traditional online multiplayer games. Although Nintendo is not the part, but announcing the launching dates of the Wii U has certainly put it on the same trail as other developers and publishers.
All this apart, the real fun will be the show floor draws which will include Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Pro Evolution Soccer 2013, Borderlands 2, World of Warcraft and StarCraft 2, Tomb Raider , One Piece: Pirate Warriors, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and Final Fantasy XIV.
To watch the event online, Sony PlayStation will be broadcasting its August 14 Gamescom press conference and live Q&A from Cologne to the world via a web stream starting 7pm local time, so keep a check. Electronic Arts Conference can also be streamed live on its website starting 4pm.
